So, my girlcrush on Jewel is definitely a go. I'd been doubting her recently, due to Keller's lameness on SGA, but she said all the right things at the panel, and looked gorgeous doing it. ('Jewel, what's the difference between this, and working on other sci fi shows?' 'This one doesn't get cancelled!')
PLEASE RE-HOST IF YOU ARE GOING TO RE-POST THESE PICTURES.All most all image servers will let you upload it directly from the current url of the photo!
JOE (okay, so at cons I set my camera on the 'burst' setting, which means just hold down the button, and it keeps taking pictures until I move my finger, but it's harder to frame up the shot that way, because instead of seeing on the screen what the camera is currently focusing on, it flashes the pictures you've just taken... anyway, after the first few shots I took, I realized I was cutting off THE HAIR, which is just unacceptable):
Jewel! I loved her outfit, but was not fond of the big, blonde hair thing she had going on until I started looking at the pictures, in which it looks better. Huh. Anyway, Robert Picardo pulled out her chair for her. What a gentleman.
Ha ha, I only kept this picture because of Robert Picardo's pinky:
Joe talking about stuff:
Somehow, a running joke about Woolsey/Robert Picardo becoming a cross-dresser was generated.
Martin-Gero-as-moderator asks Jewel if the medical jargon is getting easier to reel off this year. Her response was a simple & resounding, "No."
Jewel talks about what she wanted to see her character, Keller, do this season, saying she wanted her to "make a choice already," and when the audience cheered, she added, "and she does." And then she made a smirky face.
Joe... is distracted by shiny lights?
People talking about stuff... (I don't remember when it was in the panel, but Jewel sort of called out the writers in a subtle way by mentioning that it seems like Keller is always getting kidnapped and left alone in the forest.)
Joe talks about filming Doppelganger, about how it hurt his shoulders to be constantly throwing fake punches, and about how, when John goes over the balcony, Joe is supposed to hit this specially rigged breakaway steel bar. Only when they went to do it, it didn't break away. So Joe was leaning on it while the crew tried to figure out what had gone wrong when it finally DID break away, and left Joe dangling by his harness.
Other stuff (At some point, they mentioned how in Season 5, there's a scene with John & Rodney on a balcony at night, and the audience was like "!!!!" and then Joe was all, "There's beer involved," which, I don't know, was supposed to somehow make it less slashy? Anyway, it was funny.):
So Robert Picardo was getting all this love for Star Trek, and someone had even mentioned Joe in Cupid, and I was like, but.. Jewel! And FINALLY the Kaylee question came, and the crowd went wild (Dr. Horrible was the next panel in that room, so, yeah, Browncoats in the house!). Jewel said the prop guy for Firefly would bring her a big box of sci fi looking stuff and say, "Pick one." and then Joss would tell her to go 'screw around with it over there'. She also says that she misses getting to say "shiny".
The most disappointing thing about the panel was that they basically said that the opening scene of Search & Rescue was not a mis-lead, and that they will be exploring the John/Teyla relationship this season. Blarg.
